BD e-commerce isn't Shopify with a Taka sign
International e-commerce platforms — Shopify, BigCommerce, WooCommerce — were never built for Bangladesh. They assume credit cards. They assume English-only customers. They assume returns through standard postal systems. None of those assumptions hold for the BD market.
Here, 78% of online shoppers still pay cash on delivery. Mobile traffic dominates at 85% of sessions. bKash and Nagad are the primary digital wallets — Stripe isn't even available. Returns happen through Pathao or RedX, not domestic post. If your checkout flow doesn't account for these realities, your conversion rate dies at step two.
What we build for Bangladeshi storefronts
Every Virtual Online e-commerce site is custom Laravel or Next.js — not a generic theme. The checkout flow puts COD front and center as a payment method, with bKash and Nagad right next to it. SSLCommerz handles cards when needed. Each step is one tap, one decision, no surprises.
Shipping is integrated with Pathao, RedX, Steadfast, and Paperfly via their direct APIs. Print a label from your admin, get tracking events back automatically, refund failed deliveries with one click. Your customer sees their courier's name and a real-time map. Your operations team sees a single dashboard.
On the product side: schema.org Product markup on every item (Google's required field set: name, image, price, currency, availability, brand, GTIN where available). Optimized URLs like /products/<brand>/<product-name> — not <id>. Each product becomes its own ranking opportunity in Google Shopping and organic search.
Multi-vendor marketplaces, when you're ready
Standalone storefronts work for single-brand businesses. But Bangladesh has rapidly moved toward marketplace models — Daraz, Chaldal, Pickaboo on the consumer side; YoPekka, Foodpanda Shops on the vendor side. If your roadmap includes inviting other sellers onto your platform, the architecture matters from day one.
We've built multi-vendor marketplaces with vendor KYC, commission management, automated payouts via bKash, dispute handling, vendor analytics, and customer-facing review systems. The same Laravel codebase scales from single-store to 500+ vendors without a rewrite. We know because we've done it.
