The challenge
Portfolio sites have a brutal job — convert a single visit into a project inquiry. The work has to lead, the design has to disappear, and load time has to be invisible.
The brief
Russell needed a portfolio site that wouldn’t compete with his photography. Generous whitespace, restrained typography, cinematic image presentation — and a CMS so he could add new shoots without calling us.
What we built
- Image-forward layouts — full-bleed hero galleries, intentional pacing between projects
- Optimized delivery — AVIF + WebP, lazy loading below fold, hero image preloaded
- Smooth transitions — Astro view transitions between project pages
- Lightweight CMS — Laravel admin for uploading new shoots, tagged by category and year
- Inquiry flow — direct contact form, WhatsApp deep link, calendar booking
Outcome
Russell reports inquiry volume tripled in the two months following launch. Average inquiry quality (vetted vs. spam) improved noticeably.
