How We Work: Fixed Price, Milestone by Milestone

Five steps, every project: a scoping call, a fixed quote in writing, a 50% deposit before we touch code, weekly build demos, and a sign-off before launch. You approve each milestone — you never pay for work you haven't seen.

Every project — from a $1,500 Launch site to a custom platform build — runs through the same five milestones below. Nothing skips a step because the invoice is bigger.

Day 0
01

Scoping call

A focused call, not a sales pitch.

A 30–45 minute call — video or phone, your timezone. You walk us through what you're building, who it's for, and what “done” looks like in three months. No 40-question form first — if it's a fit, we move straight into scoping.

What happens

  • Call notes shared same day
  • Clarifying questions in writing
  • Recommended package or custom scope
Day 1–2
02

Fixed quote in 2 business days

One number, in writing — not a range.

Within two business days you get a written proposal: exact scope, exact price, exact delivery date. Every package — Launch, Business Pro, Commerce, or a custom-scoped Platform build — is quoted as one fixed number; see the full breakdown on the pricing page. Nothing grows into an hourly bill once work starts. pricing page .

What happens

  • Written Scope of Work (SOW)
  • One fixed price for the full scope
  • Delivery date with named milestones
Week 1
03

50% deposit + design-approval milestone

Half down. Design comes first — before any code.

Once you approve the quote, we invoice 50% of the total as a deposit — that puts the project on the calendar. That money funds design, not blind development: you review wireframes, then full visual design, and sign off on the design-approval milestone before a single page gets built.

What happens

  • 50% deposit invoice (USD)
  • Wireframes + full visual design
  • Written design-approval sign-off
Weeks 2 onward
04

Build with weekly demos + dev-complete milestone

You watch it get built, not just the finished result.

Development runs against a live staging URL from week one, so you check progress any time — not just on delivery day. Every week you get a short demo update: what shipped, what's next. When every page and feature in the SOW is built and working, we mark the dev-complete milestone and walk you through it live. Larger Custom Platform builds add a mid-build milestone here too.

What happens

  • Live staging URL from week one
  • Weekly progress demo
  • Dev-complete walkthrough call
Final week
05

Pre-launch sign-off, launch, care plan takes over

You approve the live build — then we keep watching it.

Before launch, you get a checklist and a final walkthrough covering every page, form, and integration tested together. Once you sign off, we deploy to your production domain, configure SSL and DNS, and submit your sitemap to Google. The remaining balance is due at this milestone, and code plus content ownership transfers to you — nothing held back. From there, a care plan takes over: monitoring, backups, and a guaranteed response window. care plan .

What happens

  • Pre-launch QA checklist
  • Production deploy + SSL + DNS + sitemap
  • Code + IP transfer on final payment
  • Care plan begins
Payment terms

Payment terms, in plain English

No surprises on the invoice, same as no surprises on the build. This is exactly how money moves through a project — nothing here is negotiated case by case.

  • Invoices are itemized by named milestone — deposit, design-approval, dev-complete, pre-launch — never one lump sum upfront.
  • Every invoice is in USD, payable by card, ACH, or bank transfer.
  • You never pay 100% before seeing your site — the deposit is 50%, balance due only after you approve the working build.
  • 100% code and content ownership — no lock-in, ever, transferred the moment the final invoice is paid.
  • Custom Platform builds split the balance across three milestones instead of one final invoice.
  • Post-launch changes outside a care plan are billed at a flat $40/hr — the one hourly line anywhere. Projects stay fixed price.
Scope & changes

Nothing changes without your sign-off

The written scope is the contract. Anything outside it goes through one extra step — not a silent timeline slip.

Written Scope of Work

Every project starts from a written SOW: every page, every feature, every integration — and what's explicitly out of scope. If it's not in the SOW, it's not in the price. If it's not in the price, it's not a surprise on your invoice.

Change orders, not scope creep

Need something added mid-build? We write it up as a change order: what it adds, what it costs, and what it does to the delivery date. You approve it before we touch it — that written step is how a fixed price stays fixed.

Want to see it before you commit to anything?

Ask and we'll send a redacted sample Scope of Work from a comparable project. Need an NDA signed first? We'll sign yours, or send ours — whichever you prefer. Nothing here stays hidden until after you've paid. Read more about who's behind the work on our About page.

1 business day

Our reply-time promise on every email, call request, and quote follow-up — most replies land the same day.

Guarantees

Three guarantees, backed in writing

Not vague promises — specific commitments tied to the milestones above.

Fixed-Price Guarantee

The number in your written quote is the number you pay for that scope. If we misjudge the work, that's on us — not billed to you as a surprise change order.

Revision Guarantee

Every package ships with revision rounds built into the design milestone — 2 on Launch, 3 on Business Pro and Commerce. Anything that doesn't match the approved design gets fixed at no extra charge.

30-Day Launch Warranty

Anything that breaks in the first 30 days after launch — and isn't a new feature request — gets fixed free. That's separate from your care plan, which takes over after.

Process FAQ

Questions about how we work

What buyers ask before the first invoice — payments, changes, and what happens if something's wrong.

Do I have to pay the full price before you start building?
No. You pay a 50% deposit to start design, and the balance is due at the pre-launch milestone — after you've approved the working site. You never pay 100% before seeing your site.
What if I need something changed that wasn't in the original scope?
We write it up as a change order — what it adds, what it costs, and what it does to the delivery date — and you approve it before we touch the build. Nothing hits the invoice without your sign-off.
What happens if I don't like the design?
You'd know well before launch. Design is its own milestone: wireframes, then full visual design, sign-off before development starts. Every package includes revision rounds in that stage — 2 on Launch, 3 on Business Pro and Commerce.
Can I see a sample contract or NDA before I commit to anything?
Yes. Ask and we'll send a redacted sample Scope of Work from a comparable project. If you want an NDA signed first, we'll sign yours or send ours — whichever you prefer.
How do you invoice, and what payment methods do you accept?
Invoices are in USD, itemized by milestone — deposit, design-approval, dev-complete, pre-launch — and payable by card, ACH, or bank transfer.
What happens after the site launches?
Every project includes a 30-day launch warranty, and a care plan — Essential, Growth, or Priority — picks up from there: monitoring, backups, and a guaranteed response window.
